REFLECTIONS

This was taken near our apartment in Budapest. Everything in the window, including the tree branches is a reflection.

REFLECTIONS

I know the assignements are meant to challenge us for each new week, but I had so much fun with images in Hungary recently that I need to put a couple here. This is a palace near the western border, and if I knew enough about what I am doing, that little bright light at the top could look like the moon, which it was. I had no tripod and no flat surface; my camera was hand-held for this shot.

PINK, RED

I call this one "Tulip in oils, canvas" even though it was still growing in the field.

RED, PINK

"Seeing Red"
I enter these posts in order to encourage you to make a day of it later this spring up at the tulip festival in Skagit County. Have your batteries charged! And wear jeans or something in which you can get down 'n dirty!

CURVES

This staircase is in a small castle in Hungary. The antique painting of walls, arches, and this staircase was stunning. I took this photo practically lying on the floor to look straight up to the top.

More Chihuly

CURVES

The new Lincoln Center in Bellevue has Chihuly originals spotlighted in the foyer and overhead.
Pat and I went there to shop and skidded to a stop to whip out our cameras instead. An unexpected adventure! If I had an editing program, I would definitely fill in that triangle of light from the window.

"CURVES"

Hee, hee! Okay, I will get
serious after this.

FIVE again

Five pieces of my favorite dark chocolate. Er..., well, hummmm...it took a long time to focus, okay?

FIVE, yet again

Five antique jugs, still life. I know what I did wrong here. I should have placed the ebony one where the white stone one is, closer to the natural light.

FIVE...more

Ohmygoodness! Heidi just reminded me of the "perfect" five; this is, in Hungary, called (and it is famous) "The Five-in-Hand". In the Hortobagy, which is the wild country, or you may have heard of it as the Eastern Steppes, ancient warriors established horsemanship competitions during their boring times. This one is where the rider stands on the bare backs of 2 horses and drives 3 more in front of him and they ride flat-out, like the wind. The challenge: none of the 5 horses is harnessed together! Thus, the name, as 5 separate reins control 5 separate horses.

In this season of course there are no flowers, but I just had to go to my file and pick a blossom with 5 points. This is a columbine.
